The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Case in point:
About five weeks ago, movers came to our house in Saratoga and packed up a pallet of carefully selected items for our "air shipment." The moving company provided a quote to Ken's employer for an air shipment of 500 pounds and a sea shipment of a 20 foot container. Of course, the idea being that the air shipment would arrive quickly and the sea container would take longer.
Our air shipment items, shown here, included Ken's bicycle, some tools, my Nordic Trak, my sewing machines, some books, my tripod, and my longest telephoto lens.
This pallet is what it was all loaded onto:
I called the Australian moving company yesterday to find out why this shipment hadn't arrived. We had received a call from them a couple weeks ago telling us that everything had cleared customs and quarantine, and was being put on a train from Melbourne to Adelaide. It would then be trucked from Adelaide to Alice and we should have it in about a week.
Yesterday I was told "He has had some trouble finding someone to take it up to Alice." In other words, for two weeks this pallet has just sat on the ground in Adelaide. This, after Ken's employer paid for Air freight from the US. I was livid.
Of course, once I became a squeaky wheel, arrangements were made within a couple hours. We're now told it will be here next Monday. You can be sure I will be on the phone first thing if it's not!
