Wedding Dress Progress!

After doing some closet shopping and store shopping for something off-the-rack, I've decided to make my wedding outfit. I have some deep green satin taffeta (I think it's called) for a skirt, and a couple different choices of complementary fabric in various blue/green/turquoise/teal color families for a top.

We are now targeting the end of March for the ceremony (possibly in San Diego!) so I will be busy between now and then with my sewing. I promise to post photos soon of the fabric and patterns that I settle on.

Am I crazy? Yes, just a bit. I could certainly wear any number of things that I already have and I would end up just as married, but none of them felt quite special enough. I'm going to aim for something fairly classic, not too frou frou, that I hope will be wearable for other special occasions. And if I have to, there's always the St. John to fall back on. No worries!

Thanks everyone for your comments. They were very helpful.

  1. No, you are not crazy. I think it's a great idea to use some of the fabric you have collected. After all, you picked the fabric originally because it spoke to you. Using it for your special wedding outfit seems only "fitting" to me! And I love the color choice. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Have fun!
