Driving the Stuart Highway

Driving south in December from Alice Springs to Port Augusta on our way to Adelaide took us almost twelve hours. Lots more to come but here are a few memories.

Much of it was a blur...

but very pretty...

It was Spring and the mulga were flowering.

In places the road was wide open,

apparently shared by cattle and kangaroos,

and is only two lanes the whole way, much of it paved for the first time just in the 1980s.

Road trains and roadhouses broke up the monotony.

This is a desert?

  1. Beautiful, Glenda. I have also enjoyed all your other posts, as well. Congrats on all the swimming--that is a terrific accomplishment!
