Status Quo

Todays QuOD (Question of the Day) comes from the sisters. "Will you be attending the annual Girls' Weekend in May?"

I'll discuss a few prerequisites to knowing that for sure we are moving to Australia and knowing exactly when we will go.

First, Ken needs to figure out what to do with his dogs. He will not officially accept the new position until he knows he has a workable solution for them. We are exploring a number of options. Due to their age and health, they are not good candidates for adoption, so he will not take them to a shelter.

Second, as I understand it, the facility "Joint Defense Facility Pine Gap" aka JDFPG and the company that has the prime contract with it must officially offer him the position. He has been approached about it by his employer, who is a subcontractor to another company. Many of the people involved in these other organizations are people he has known and been known by for thirty years, and he has the skills and experience they are looking for. But there are budgets and contracts and other factors that probably all have to align.

And other issues would need to be successfully settled such as what specific housing would be provided there, how many of our belongings could be shipped, who would be taking care of our Saratoga house, and so on.

It is a transition that can and probably will take months, so Ken has told me for now it's "life as usual." I am continuing my job search and other personal activities until further notice. I am on the calendar to host the Miranda Green Ladies Luncheon in March and still plan to.

Check back often (or subscribe) and as soon as I know more I'll share it here. And if you would like to let us know you're reading, sign up as a "follower" of the blog. Thanks to those who have already done so!
