"I Do"

Together we said "I do".

No, we're not yet married. This was yesterday when the Clerk-Recorder at the County administered the marriage license oath to us, a prerequisite step to actually getting married.

Yes, we have our license! This gives us 90 days to get married anywhere in the state of California. (Date and location are TBD.)

The oath was "Do you swear or affirm that the information on this application (information such as name, date of birth, parents' names) is true to the best of your knowledge?"

For those who haven't applied for a California marriage license recently, things have changed. There's no blood test and no waiting period. We could have gotten married yesterday (but we didn't.) We just had to appear in person together to apply for the license, provide photo IDs, and a check for $79. Oh, and on the application it asked for the new name if either party would be changing their name. My new middle name will be Kimball and my new last name will be Smith.

Later, at home, Ken surprised me with a romantic champagne toast. Isn't love sweet! I've found a honey, that's for sure.

  2. Sorry, Kim, if my post was confusing. I'm not *yet* Mrs. Smith. I have edited it to be (hopefully) more clear. My first blog, lots to learn...
