My fingers fondled soft silk chiffon, sheer cotton, buttery leather, crisp tight linen, corduroy and embroidery, textured tulle and and nubby wool.
My eyes delighted in hues of ochre and sand, sky and water, celery and onion, ink and steel.
I breathed deeply the new car scent of the leather skins.
And then I brought it all home with me.
First, the green leather sheep skins; these were sold by the square foot, even here in otherwise metric Australia. They come from processors in Italy, so maybe that's why. I hope to use them for purses and took some inspiration photos in shop windows.
From this...
to this?
Or something like this?
If I were really talented I could attempt this...
Gotta love the details on this one.
Not to worry, I have some this color, too!
A girl can never have too much black: tulle, wool, linen, and cotton knit.
Reds, oranges and yellow are fun: three more skins, silk and cotton.
I like browns! Mostly cotton wovens, some with texture, some with a bit of stretch
A closeup of the emboridered cotton burnout.
My favorite collection is comprised of the teals and turquoises: a couple more skins, some knits, cottons, and silks.
The neutrals - a silk organza and a silk pinstripe.
I'll show you some of the home dec fabric I've been playing with tomorrow... in situ.

Oh Glenda you did go home with some beauties and heaps on inspirational bags. The blog I posted has some great patterns and you have done Nikki's class so I say jump in.

I love the green leather. Our shop has had a number of purse classes and we have lots of patterns. I will look to see if any are similar to your pics. Can't wait to see what you do with your collections!
ReplyDeleteHow did you get all that stuff home? Of course my favorites are the browns, neutrals, turquoise, golds...well that just about covers all the categories....with the heat there, are linens and cottons popular? That's about all I wear. I especially like linen's feel, but have reservations about always looking wrinkled. Also, is batiste readily available and affordable. That makes wonderful nightgowns for hot weather, but is too see through for my taste for blouses. ME
