All so far has gone according to plan. The only variation was that United upgraded us to first class. It was a hardship but we managed to accept the change with grace. :-) I had a nice nap in my little suite with complete foldout bed and private TV.
We arrived safely and on schedule. The security and customs processes were simple and straight forward. Except for my bag of chocolate chips which gave us pause at security in the US and with customs here. (According to my source in Alice, the semisweet chips are not available, so I brought my own stash.) I guess they decided I had no nefarious intentions and let them through after close examination. It might have gotten ugly otherwise!
We are now sitting at the gate waiting for the flight to Alice. I bought a local newspaper which mentions there was a positive economic forecast from the US, as well as great news about GDP growth in China which should have a good effect on Australian commodities.
It's 9:15am Friday as I write this. Time for some chocolate, my favorite commodity.

Whew! I was most relieved to hear the semi sweet chocolate chips made it through customs, and very grateful that no defensive (or offensive) kung fu was needed!
